San Diego Belly Dance covers a many different and creative dance forms. They are part of growing group of dancers who compete, teach and keep the spirit of the dance moving forward. The tribal dance style is just one of many new belly dance techniques that are sweeping the world.
The American Tribal Style is widely taught through out the United States of America and is found in a lot of the San Diego Belly Dance schools. It is a dance style that is accepted and growing in popularity throughout the world. It is not uncommon to walk into a dance studio in Europe, Russia or the former soviet states and not find a class dedicated to tribal belly dancing. The city lends itself to a diverse selection of gifted performers and instructors.
The dance form of American Tribal Belly Dance Style is something entirely new. This dance originated in the United States. This is a more modern style of belly dance and came to be in the late 1980′s. Although the dance started in the U.S.A,peak jacket, it was quickly adopted around the world. The dance is Folkloric inspired and includes a combination of fusion with old dance techniques from the Oriental world. Modern Tribal Styles now-a-days, are often a combination of jazz, theatre, hip hop and classical traditional forms. An example is Flamenco or African Dance. The Tribal dance involves extreme muscle isolation, so it helps to keep the core of the body in an ideal shape. Yoga is a good way to keep those important muscles toned.

The San Diego Belly Dance community is a group of instructors who through their many years of dancing knowledge teach the many forms of belly dance found throughout the world. Oriental Dance is a representation of a larger dance form. In Arabic world the dance is often referred to as Raks Sharki. No matter the names, the meaning translates into ”Dance of the East”. For American dance terminology the more common name is Oriental Dance. Regardless of the props or music used or the different styles, it is still considered Oriental Dance. American dance schools including San Diego Belly Dance schools, support many different forms of dance.
Keeping conditioned is extremely important to avoid any injuries. Stretching and stomach strengthening is a good way to support the body during competition, heavy workouts or daily training. Yoga is an excellent way to support any of the tribal dance movements. They work the core of the body and strengthen areas rarely targeted except during activities such as dance.
American Tribal Style dancers wear a number of different outfits which complete the look and feel of the dance. These costumes define the the mood and techniques of the dancer. The Flamenco or Gypsy skirt is reminiscent of theatrical burlesque. As for the accessories, all kinds are welcome. From the colorful ornaments to the bright and intricate fabrics, all are possible and compliment the dancer.
Tribal presentations are great to watch and can include fire, fire fans, wings and hula hoops. There are no limits to the American Tribal Style of dance. All is possible through fusion.
